Lens Replacement

Lens Replacement is an exciting vision correction option for our patients.  Lens Replacement is great for patients who are over 40 and would like to see well without glasses at multiple distances including near and far.  Many patients over 40 start to notice lens dysfunction.  We use a very sophisticated technology to measure your entire optical system and it also measures lens dysfunction and will show you what your vision would be like after a lens replacement surgery.

Lens Replacement is great for patients who have been told they are not a candidate for vision correction.  If your corneas are too thin for LASIK or if you have other conditions that would not allow for laser vision correction, many times a Lens Replacement is a great option.

For all of us our natural lens which is inside the eye changes over time.  The lens gets thicker like an onion and also starts to blur and change color.  Eventually the lens changes so much that a cataract forms.   Lens Replacement is essentially a cataract surgery without the presence of a cataract.  We like to call it cataract prevention!  Once you have a Lens Replacement you will not need cataract surgery in the future.  Most patients don’t know that cataract surgery is the most common surgery performed in the United States which makes lens replacement a very safe alternative for vision correction.

With Lens Replacement, patients get the option of selecting the technology for their eyes that suits their lifestyle.  We love discussing how patients use their eyes on a daily basis from their work, to their family time, and hobbies to help determine which lenses will be the best options.

We have several choices in lens technology.  It is so exciting that the lens technology available can allow patients to see clearly at all distances.  We routinely have patients who can see distance, intermediate and near without glasses.  During your evaluation, we thoroughly discuss your visual needs to help select the best lens possible for your vision.
